Our hospitalists are doctors who are devoted to hospitalized patients, with the goal of providing them with the highest level of care. Hospitalists are physicians that practice only within the hospital, and treat patients who have been referred from primary care doctors, emergency room doctors, or other physicians at the hospital. Hospitalists have chosen not to practice traditional internal medicine within a private practice or an internal medicine clinic. Some of our hospitalists are family practice doctors or medical sub-specialists who are also passionate about hospitalist work such as intensive care doctors, pulmonologists (specializing in treatment of the lungs) or nephrologists (specializing in treatment of the kidneys).

Our Services
Our hospitalist team will compassionately care for you and generally will see you daily during your stay at Willamette Valley Medical Center (WVMC) and refer other physicians within the hospital to assist you that specialize in certain aspects of your care. They will communicate with your entire team of care providers to ensure you are receiving the top level of care. Your team may include all or some of the following: nurses, social workers, dietitians, respiratory therapists, and pharmacists. Hospitalists work closely with your Primary Care Providers in the following ways:
- They inform your Primary Care Providers of your admission to WVMC and get additional information including your medical history and medications.
- Before being discharged our hospitalist will again contact your Primary Care Providers with an update on the treatment you received and ask for additional recommendations on your ongoing care.
Upon being discharged, your hospitalist will arrange for any services or prescriptions that you may need at home and you are then returned to the care of your Primary Care Physician.
